Meet the Maker: Krista Tranquilla

Inspired by the mountains where she grew up and the ones where she currently lives in Truckee, CA, jewelry maker Krista Tranquilla creates outdoor-themed necklaces, earrings, cuffs and more. From John Muir quotes to constellations to ocean and forest imagery, Krista's beautiful work evokes a sense of calm.

Where do you draw inspiration? Or who inspires you?

My inspiration mainly comes from the idea of being outside. I am also inspired by brave and adventurous people.

If you could eat at any food truck, what would it be? And what would you get?

For me, it is all about the sauces. So a food truck that would have a bowl of good food and killer sauces to choose from.

What do you like most about the maker community?

I love how supportive everyone is and that the idea of collaboration is generally shared by all.

Where is your favorite place to travel?

I dream about international travel all the time, but we (my husband and 2 daughters) can be found backpacking in the Sierra or camping on the coast when it comes time to travel..

What do you want for your next birthday?

A day of pampering.

What does your work space look like? 

I just moved into a bigger space in my house. It has lots of light and it is very messy. I love it.

Small Business Saturday was conceived in 2010 to celebrate supporting local small businesses. This year will be our 3rd year of participating and we couldn't be more excited!  We were so grateful for those who shop our mom and pop business so we want to celebrate! Saturday we will also be hosting a special pop up to celebrate the release of our jewelry collaboration with Silversheep Jewelry. We've always been fans of Sylvia's minimalist, thoughtfully crafted pieces so we knew she was just the person to partner with to create a special limited collection. Together we have designed a ring, ear climber, and necklace inspired by our gather logo. We can't wait for you to see everything! Sylvia will also be bringing more pieces from her collection for you to peruse. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet one of our favorite artists, learn about her process, and shop her jewelry.  Pop up hours are from 12-3p.

We are so excited to have Kate Taylor's jewelry in the shop. Daisy met Kate at Renegade earlier this summer and immediately fell in love with her unique designs. We strive to have jewelry in the shop that you don't see everywhere else and Kate's designs are so lovely. She hand makes each piece in her Brooklyn studio.
