New! Summer Knit Tote Workshop

Cara Corey Designs has a new knit workshop perfect for summer!

The Summer Knit Tote Workshop is a beginner-friendly knitting class, where you will learn to make a basic knit stitch using large circular knitting needles. Then you will seam the bottom of your bag and add homemade braided handles. The finished bag is approximately 12x15 inches.

Your kit will include:

Daisy McClellanComment
Mochi ice cream.jpg

We’re bringing our popular Mochi Making Workshop with Yukiko Zinke to online! Join us Sunday, February 14th at 2pm for this fun class where you’ll learn how to make Daifuku Mochi, Ice Cream Mochi, and Mochi Donuts with matcha glaze using traditional and modern methods.

What is mochi, you ask? It is a Japanese rice cake made of mochigome, a short-grain japonica rice. The rice is pounded into paste and molded into the desired shape (often with other ingredients). In Japan it is traditionally made in a ceremony called mochitsuki.

Mochi is naturally gluten free so this class is great for those with any gluten sensitivities.

Yukiko Zinke grew up in Fukushima, Japan where she ran a ramen restaurant with her mother, whom she learned to cook from. She has 20+ years of experience making mochi, a special treat enjoyed during festivals and traditional events. Currently she runs a cooking school, based in San Leandro which she stared with her daughter in 2016.

WHAT: Mochi Making Workshop: $50 per person
WHEN:
Sunday, February 14th, 2pm-4pm PST

Daisy's Closet Sale

Daisy McClellanComment

After the arrival of our cutie Cole, I decided to organize my closet. I found some really great gems that I am ready to part with. I thought a closet sale would be fun so have listed those items here. It’s a mix of independent and local designers as well as items from my favorite bay area boutiques. You’ll also find a few items left over from shutting down the retail part of gather. Some really awesome pieces in various sizes that still have the tags on them! I’ve reduced all the items to just a fraction of the retail value so that I can make the space for our growing family. Shipping is just $5 for the first item and $1 for each item after that. All sales final.

Girl Gang Craft #Smallbiz Summit: 5 things we can't wait for!

Daisy McClellanComment
summitsquare.png

Have you heard about the Girl Gang Craft #Smallbiz Summit happening in Oakland on August 17th yet? It’s a fun one day conference for the bay area creative community. We just got our ticket and could not be more psyched. Here are the top five reasons we’re excited:

1) This isn’t your average boring summit. Yes, we plan to learn and absorb some important stuff but it’s also meant to be fun. There will be happy hour, workshops, and real talk from some hella inspiring speakers. Basically the perfect day we’d say.

2) The keynote speaker is former gather maker, Carissa Potter of People I’ve Loved. We sold her amazing products that explore topics of depression, self-care, and love in the store since we opened and have admired all that she has accomplished. She is has become a household name! We love her refreshingly honest take on life so cannot wait to hear her speak in person and learn all the things.

3) The conference will cover things that sometimes don’t come naturally to us creatives, (ahem - taxes and money). It will be so nice to hear from experts about these things that are so important but we often put on the back burner. This will only motivate and empower us in business.

4) Katie Dean Jewelry (another former gather maker!), will be on a panel devoted to Social Media. Not only do we adore this gem of a business woman but have mad respect for her social media skills. Seriously we want' to know her secrets! We will be taking lots of notes!

5) And last but not least the main reason we are excited for this summit is that there aren’t enough events out there like this. Connecting with our community is one of our biggest values and this summit couldn’t be more needed right now. As a business owner and a mom I often don’t do things like this for myself but it is so important. It is imperative that we invest in ourselves! A day to filled with inspirational talks, workshops, and networking is just what we need. What about you? Will I see you there? I’d love to connect!
