This weekend is San Francisco's 14th annual Green Festival, November 13-15th, at Cow Palace, a celebration of our status as the leading eco-friendly city in the nation. Here at gather, we are proud supporters of many thoughtful designers who also do their part to keep our community sustainable and green, featured below!
First up is one of our personal favorites, Preloved, and their creative way of "saving the planet one sweater at a time." Each carefully curated piece of clothing is made from reclaimed vintage articles of clothing, often sweaters, paired with deadstock or overrun fabrics. Since their designs depend on what pattern they happen to salvage, the piece you purchase will often be one-of-kind! Over the past 20 years, Preloved has reclaimed over 1,000,000 sweaters that would have otherwise found their way into our landfills. Thank you, Preloved, for recycling so dutifully and making such fun, cozy items!

Next up is Oodlebadoodle, where designer Rebecca Saylor makes "the world more huggable" by hand-making whimsical, home decor and pillows from reclaimed textiles one at a time. A wide selection of huggables of various sizes are available here at gather, and Rebecca also welcomes customizing your own creation!

Darren, from Reclaimed Sonoma, has one of the best stories for how he came to design the home decor signs below. He made his first one as a gift for his wife, and as friends asked about the piece they hung in their home, orders began rolling in. For the pieces of wood, Darren searches Sonoma County countrysides for old houses, barn, and fences, cleans up the leftover lumber before it decays, and mills it to build furniture and these art pieces. Each piece saved from landfills retains some marks left behind by the wood's prior life that is unique to its own, then hand made into a piece for your home in Darren's shop in Petaluma, California. Last but not least, we'd like to highlight organic body care line, Fat and the Moon. Seeking a natural alternative to the many chemical-filled products found in drugstores these days, founder Rachel Budde handcrafts herbal body products from age-old ingredients, often grown in her own garden, and ancient recipes that are both good for the body and the earth. Each batch is made in small batches from organic ingredients, plastic is used sparingly, and all of the packaging is made to be easy to reuse and recycle. Needless to say, we are big fans here at gather - here are some of our favorite products!
