The gather family is growing!

Daisy McClellanComment

When Christian and I opened gather we joked that the store was our first baby.  We worked for months to open up our dream space and then worked practically everyday that first year.  It truly was a labor of love. 6 months after we celebrated our first year anniversary we welcomed our first son Hunter into the world and actually experienced parenthood and everything wonderful and crazy it entails. Hunter quickly became the shop's little mascot running all around the racks and quickly making fans. Later this month we welcome baby #2 and we couldn't be more excited.  Our regulars have always been so lovely with Hunter and we know they will welcome our newest babe with love. We think about the shop constantly....it's our first baby! So if we aren't physically in the shop those first few weeks after the birth know that we are constantly working behind the scenes. Christian jokes that you can't keep me away for very long. We'll will be nesting but will make time for visits and then pretty soon you'll see us working away, baby in carrier behind the counter. We truly are a mom and pop shop!

Here are some pictures from a recent photo shoot we wanted to share! I'm wearing Passion Lilie, Christian is wearing One World Brothers, and Hunter is wearing Boro Boro. All fair trade and local small businesses that can be found in the shop!

We are very excited to have baby Hunter Jean McClellan join the gather family! Hunter was born Thursday October 29th at 1:17am weighing in at 7 lbs 7 oz and measuring 21 inches.  Daisy and Christian are over the moon  with their little boy and will be taking some time to enjoy this most precious moment in life.

In celebration of Daisy & Christian's first, this post is dedicated to all the adorable baby items featured here at gather. We're sure many will be modeled by baby Hunter at some point, or find their way to his nursery at home!

Our newest baby designer, Jenny Irene selects and uses beautiful vintage fabrics to hand make the cutest items. Come check out her collection of dresses, shoes, bonnets, and bandanas, available here at gather!

Oh, did we mention that she also makes these fun stuffed animals?

Local artist and illustrator, Amos Goldbaum hand draws cityscapes of San Francisco that are then hand printed onto t-shirts. The good news is that he also prints onesies for your little one! We have his illustrations of Sutro Tower (left) and Dolores Park (right) available in-store for $28:

If you're looking for a trustworthy diaper balm to soothe the oh-so sensitive skin of your precious one, try this "Babies Moon Salve" from Fat and the Moon. We love their body care products because they are guaranteed good for the body and the earth; in fact, many of their herbs are grown on founder, Rachel's, own farm! This salve is made of calendula, chamomile, St.John's wort infused in sunflower oil, all of which are gentle and effective healers. It can also be used as a moisturizer or to treat minor scrapes and bruises.

Girls Can Tell recently customized San Francisco-themed bibs and onesies just for gather, which feature drawings of the iconic Golden Gate and Transamerica Building. These are printed on the softest organic cotton, which your baby's skin will definitely appreciate!

If you're still waiting/expecting, or are looking for a good gift for an expectant mother, Pinch Provisions makes thoughtful kits for all occasions, including one to keep handy for labor and deliveries:

And lastly, for special occasions, come check out our vintage collection of baby items from Electric Blanket. These are definitely picture-worthy outfits!
