gather x Harumi K Collection is here!

Daisy McClellanComment

We are so excited about our latest collaboration with local designer Harumi K. We've been working for months to create the line and can't believe it's finally here! This time around Daisy wanted to create beautiful clothing that was durable enough to run after her kiddos in. As a mom of a 2 month old and 2 year old her clothes need to be functional. All of the items happen to work before, during, and after pregnancy are breast feeding friendly. What a wonderful bonus. We also added matching toddler pieces this time around because let's be honest who doesn't want a little mini me?

If you're local be sure to stop by our brunch debut party at the shop this Sunday from 11a-1p. We'll have mimosas, scones, and a play area for the kiddos while you try on the collection. Meet the duo who put the collection together, gather owner Daisy and clothing designer Sherry of Harumi K. Check out the pieces below (and shop it on our online shop if you can't make it on Sunday). But hurry this collection is limited and only available at gather.

Join us Sunday November 12th at 11a as we celebrate our newest clothing collaboration with local designer Sherry of Harumi K. For our exclusive winter collection we're introducing toddler pieces to the mix (tops and dresses 12months - 3T)! gather owner Daisy wanted clothes that she and her kids could run around in but still feel put together. We love the beautiful prints and charismatic knits Daisy and Sherry hand selected. The best part is all the women's pieces are nursing friendly and can be worn throughout pregnancy too. They make a great gift for moms and moms to be or just anyone wanting comfortable and versatile pieces. And the matching toddler pieces are adorable - who doesn't want a little mini me?  No need for a babysitter, bring the kiddos as we will have a little area with crafts and games for them to play. We'll even have extra staff on hand so you can try the collection on and enjoy a mimosa (or two)! Each purchase during the party comes with a handmade bath salt soak to take home.

Meet the Maker: Harumi K

Meet the MakerCara CoreyComment

You might recognize Sherry's tops, dresses and kimonos both from her line, Harumi K Womenswear, and our collaboration with her, gather x Harumi K. She says she designs clothes that transition easily from work to play with textural details and modern lines.

Keep reading to learn more about Sherry and her work space in Oakland.

Where do you draw inspiration? Or who inspires you?

I find inspiration in architecture, art, food, nature - sometimes in the least expected places, I will see shapes or a composition that speaks to me.

If you could eat at any food truck, what would it be? And what would you get?

I've been wanting to try the Senor Sisig food truck - there's always such a long line! I would get the TOSILOG BURRITO: Filipino Sweet Pork, adobo garlic rice, fresh tomatoes and a fried egg.

What do you like most about the maker community?

I love the supportive maker community in the Bay Area. It is not easy to run a small business, especially in the early stages! I've met so many talented local designers and makers - and it's so great to be able to share resources, tips, and collaborate with them.

What is your favorite place to travel?

Japan. I'm fortunate to have family there, so I have been going there almost every year. The food is amazing, and the fabric shopping in Tokyo's Nippori District is so dangerous. I always bring a huge empty duffel bag with me to fill with fabric.

What does your work space look like?

I primarily work in my dining room - my husband built a raised platform that goes over our dining table, so it acts as my cutting table/standing desk. You will often find my cat Spartacus, trying to help!

My sewing machines, fabrics, and inventory are stored in a spare bedroom - and the cats are NOT allowed in that room!

What do you want for your next birthday?

A trip to Spain!

Add our DIY Nail Polish Kit to your Easter gift. What could be more fun than a lazy afternoon of creating your own custom nail polish colors with your kiddos!

For brunch we're dreaming of wearing this dress with our favorite wedges.

Throw on our easy to wear Navy Cross Hatch Kimono so you can play games and search for eggs in comfort with the little ones.

Add our favorite gloss and you are set for an effortless weekend!

Don't forget a hostess gift! We love this grown up gift "basket" full of everything for the foodie in your life (including Easter chocolate)!

Women's Fall Arrivals

It’s time to say goodbye to Indian summer and welcome back Karl the fog with open arms. The locals already know this, but we like to remind those new to San Francisco to remember three words: layer, layer, layer! At gather, we have some favorites that serve this very purpose.

First, we never leave the house without our Warbler hooded rain jacket by Bridge and Burn. With its double hand packets and slight hi-lo hem, it provides functionality with feminine details. This item is 100% Nylon and is available in Black or Olive. Great to wear to work or a casual stroll to your local coffee shop.

And with the fog rolling in, time to put on a sweater! What better way to leave our heart in San Francisco than to cozy up in our Raven Sweatshirt by Preloved? Each sweater is constructed with 14oz terry and mixed red vintage sweater fabric for hearts, front and back, making each sweater a unique piece. Sleeves are ¾ length. Available in navy stripe or black stripe.

In typical San Francisco fashion, the sun has decided to show up for a little while, so time to peel off that sweater and jacket and change into something a little flirtier. New in store, we enjoy twirling in the sun with our airy Paper Crane Top by gather X harumi K. This blouse features a tulip flyaway back to flash just a hint of skin. Front mustard fabric features white paper cranes, found by gather owner Daisy on her latest trip to Paris. Back is solid dark teal, high quality 100% cotton poplin made in Japan. Pair this tank with your favorite skinny jeans or wear it with a blazer when it’s time to go to the office. These tops are available in a variety of patterns.

Make a statement with pairing your tulip top by adding a statement piece. We love Roxanne Roxanne's fiber necklaces (seen above) but we also just added new necklaces by Crescent Company. Made with a mix of nylon rope and polymer clay, each piece is sure to be a conversation starter. Lightweight and easy to wear!

Need a new dress you can  layer with our micro climates' ever changing temps? We are living in this new Make It Good number. It looks wonderful with tights, booties, and a cozy cardigan perfect for running around town. And that print- could it be any cooler?!

Stop by the shop to check out all our new Fall arrivals. We have new things hitting our racks every day!
