Virtual Fall Workshops

Crochet Wreath, Block Printing, Macrame, and Punch Needle

Learn how to make your own gorgeous wall hanging in this beginner-friendly online class! Prior experience is helpful, but due to the repetition it is an approachable project for beginners. We’ll work with single-strand cotton rope to create a finished project measuring 10”x16”. It’s a tabletop macrame project without managing loads of excess rope. Join us November 13th at 11am pst for the Macrame Wall Hanging Workshop with Melisa Joy!

Join us Sunday, November 14th, 2021 at 2pm for our Punch Needle Workshop with Caroline Powell of Punch Color Studio. In this 1.5 hour class, you will create a punch needle piece of art for your wall, while learning the basic fundamentals of this traditional technique. Kit is included and no experience is required!

Join us Saturday November 13th at 2pm for a 90-minute beginners' class taught by Leslie Adkins where we'll learn the basics of block printing. One of the oldest forms of printmaking, there are varying techniques. We’ll go through the design and hand carving process, and then transfer the image onto everyday materials.

Join us Wednesday November 17th at 6:30 pm for our Crochet Wreath Workshop with instructor Cara Corey!

Learn to make your own chunky crocheted wreath with super soft merino wool. On its own, the wreath makes a beautiful simple decoration. Or, you can add embellishments to make it more colorful.

Block Print a Top Workshop

Join us Thursday December 1st at 7pm as we learn the basics of block printing from local designer, Jennie Lennick to create personalized boxy tops*. In this workshop you will learn how to carve a block, apply ink, print, and add detail with fabric paint. Once you learn the techniques you'll want to print on more clothing, dish towels, paper, and more...the possibilities are endless...and will make great holiday gifts! All supplies are included and every student will leave with their very own custom top!

Jennie owns Jenny Lemons, a small-batch clothing company based in the Mission. Jennie learned to sew, bake, and embroider as a child growing up in rural Minnesota and draws inspiration from traditional domestic craft. She moved to the Bay Area to attend the San Francisco Art Institute, where she studied painting. Jennie loves constructing garments that are playful, comfortable, and made with natural and organic fibers.  We love carrying her designs at gather.

This two hour class also includes wine and snacks and a discount on merchandise in the store that night. No experience needed- all levels welcome!
